The Big Bang Talk
Content Planning for an internet-based science show
Storyboarding + Directing + Pre- and postproduction

The Big Bang is a bi-monthly internet-based science show that the Network Information Center, Chinese Academy of Sciences operates. I was a director assistant then and planned the content of season one of this program by creating episode content, crafting scripts, and coordinating the CAS researchers and interviewers to complete the program recording.

That was my first experience getting involved in the entire lifecycle of program production, which built a solid foundation for my video production journey!
Storyboarding:
develop a sketch where you see the big picture of the whole program anticipated
Science show production also involves animation or documentary production to introduce specific terms, research results, and science news as background information for the audience. For this part, I created the storyboard.

As part of my duties as a director assistant, I was involved in the recording of the show, cooperating with the cinematography team. I had been supervising the different frames to make sure that the content was compatible with the scene and that we got enough perfect clips for postproduction.
I learned that the core of directing is mastering the inner rules of the lens. Director should always keep in mind: what kind of scene is needed at what time, the frame should be strictly compatible with the content, in what order the scenes come into screen, and how they transit to each other. With these in mind, a director would be able to give commandments to executive staff.
